

Small is beautiful
Project Pearl is Shell’s largest design programme ever. The company sells over 250 million small (sub 10l) packs of oil a year. The project’s aim was to enhance its market-leading status by introducing innovative new packs that reduced the amount of plastic, saved money, increased market growth and were easier for consumers to use.



Pearl jam
No mean feat, but we achieved it with aplomb. The new pack achieved its global cost savings target after being rolled out over only 70 per cent of the world. Consumers and mechanics alike rated it very highly for usability and emotional benefits.
